ICE Immigration Raid on Colorado Dairy Farm
June 1, 2011 – A Fort Morgan, Colorado dairy farm was the target of an immigration raid. Roughly 51 of the 60 employees were arrested, though only 11 workers remained in custody because of their use of false documents and prior criminal activity.
The Wildcat Dairy was all but deserted afterward and its owner stated that he did not know the workers were illegal. Now, according to one farmhand, they are worried about the 11,500 animals that have no one to care for them and fear some may starve.
Wildcat Dairy could have had a different story, if they had used Form I-9 Compliance. They could have identified any potential immigration issues and taken appropriate corrective action on their timeline, so there wouldn’t be a business disruption.
